Application Deadlines and Important Dates

• Most universities have deadlines in March for the winter semester and September for the summer semester.
• Start preparing your application at least 10-12 months in advance.

Required Documents and How to Prepare Them

You’ll need High School Certificates, Academic Transcripts, IELTS/TOEFL, GRE, APS certificate, a CV / resume, a Statement of Purpose (SOP), and Letters of Recommendation. Make sure to tailor your SOP to each university, highlighting your interest in embedded systems and your career goals. 

Additionally, you will need the following documents for the APS certificate process:

Document Checklist for APS Application:

1. 1. Printed and signed application form with a passport-size photo (not older than 6 months).
   2. Copy of APS fee transfer receipt.
   3. Copy of Aadhaar card with linked mobile number.
   4. Copy of passport (1st and last page).
   5. Copy of Class X Marksheet and Certificate.
   6. Copy of Class XII marksheet and certificate.
   7. Copy of Class XII admit card, if available.
   8. Copy of marksheets of all semesters.
   9. Copy of the bachelor’s degree or provisional certificate (if degree not yet issued, should not be older than 1 year).
   10. Copy of the Master’s degree and transcripts, if applicable.
   11. Copy of language certificate – German and/or English.
   12. Copy of signed Student Authorization Letter – German and/or English.

Personal drop-offs are not possible as APS does not offer public visiting hours. Please use a reliable courier service and follow specific instructions provided by APS India. Due to the high volume of applications, APS cannot provide status updates for individual courier deliveries. Use the tracking service offered by your courier provider to monitor your documents.

Importance of the APS Certificate

The APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate is crucial for students intending to study in Germany:

• Visa Application Prerequisite: The APS certificate is a mandatory requirement for your visa application when you plan to study in Germany. Without this certificate, the process cannot proceed.
• Authenticity of Academic Documents: It serves as a validation of the authenticity of your Indian academic documents, ensuring that the German authorities recognize your educational qualifications.
• Eligibility Criteria for University Admission: The APS certificate outlines the eligibility criteria that German universities use to assess Indian candidates, confirming that your educational background meets the standards required for admission.

The APS certificate acts as a bridge between the Indian educational system and the German higher education and visa application process, ensuring that the academic qualifications of Indian students are properly assessed and recognized.

Application Processing Through Uni-Assist

Some universities in Germany require applications to be processed through Uni-Assist. Uni-Assist is the central point of contact for applicants with international educational certificates for approximately 170 German universities. On their platform, you can find all the universities for which Uni-Assist processes applications. Additionally, you can discover which universities accept online-only applications and which participate in the VPD (preliminary review documentation) procedure.

It is essential to always verify information with the university of your choice, as they determine which courses and applicant groups are handled by Uni-Assist.

Additional Notes for Bangalore / Karnataka Students Submitting Documents to Uni-Assist

If you have a school leaving certificate from India, you will need to submit the following documents:

• School leaving certificate: Including an overview of subjects and grades (Class X and XII).
• Grading system: From your higher secondary school.
• Original APS certificate: Uni-Assist does not accept copies, even if officially certified. You can upload your digitally signed APS certificate directly to the My Assist platform within the application deadline.

If you have studied in India, you will need to submit the following documents:

• Official overview of subjects and grades: Issued by your university.
• Degree certificate: If you have completed your studies. A provisional degree certificate is valid for one year after graduation; after that, the official degree certificate must be submitted.
• Grading system: This should include information on the maximum and minimum grades required for graduation from your university. It must clearly indicate what CGPA or percentage is equivalent to “pass class” for degree completion.
• Original APS certificate: Upload your digitally signed APS certificate online to My Assist within the application deadline.

Notes on Official Certification

For documents being certified in India:

• Notary certification: Documents can be certified by a notary.
• University certification: Alternatively, documents can be certified by the issuing university. The certification must include the university’s seal and a signature from the student administration office, dean, or office responsible for examinations.
• Stamp requirements: All certifications should include a stamp in English or German.
