The Hidden Rejection Reason
Why a 9.0 CGPA still gets rejected in Germany.
Most Indian applicants assume universities simply convert credits with a formula or admit based on high CGPA alone. In reality, Germany operates a two-gate decision system:
- Gate 1, Degree Equivalence (anabin / ZAB): Germany judges your qualification as a whole. A 4-year B.Tech is generally classified as equivalent (gleichwertig), whereas 3-year degrees (B.Sc., BCA) are typically conditionally equivalent (bedingt gleichwertig) at public universities.
- Gate 2, Fachrichtungsrelevanz (Subject Competence): The university's Examination Board (Prüfungsausschuss) verifies that your undergraduate module syllabus directly matches the Master's prerequisite profile. If there is a substantial difference, you are rejected regardless of a top GPA.

How does the tool know if I am Safe or Reach?
We convert your Indian marks using the official Modified Bavarian Formula and compare against program admission modes (NC-restricted vs. non-restricted) and the minimum grades that programmes publish. We also apply profile boosters for GRE, research papers, patents, and work experience.
Does Germany convert Indian credits into ECTS?
No. German authorities do not multiply your Indian credits by a math formula. Degrees are judged as qualifications as a whole (anabin standards). ECTS recognition only applies to individual course transfer when there is no substantial difference in learning outcomes (Modulhandbuch).
Is this evaluation official and binding?

Does the English test for admission also work for the visa?
Not always. German missions in India accept IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge for the student visa, but not PTE, Duolingo or MOI letters. A university may admit you on a test the visa office will not accept, so IELTS or TOEFL covers both steps.
